Have US spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs crossed $1 billion in October outflows? Yes: they recorded $1.02 billion in combined net outflows through Oct. 9, according to Farside Investors’ Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF flow tables. The latest tally includes a small Friday recovery for Bitcoin funds, while Ether funds posted another day of withdrawals.
How did the combined total pass $1 billion?
Bitcoin ETFs were down $386.3 million for October through Friday, while Ether ETFs were down $635.1 million, according to Farside’s daily figures. The combined $1.02 billion is a net total: it sums reported creations and redemptions across the funds, rather than measuring trading of ETF shares between investors.
Bitcoin funds took in $21.1 million on Oct. 9, following outflows of $484.9 million on Wednesday and $244.1 million on Thursday. The Friday inflow narrowed Bitcoin’s monthly deficit, but did not reverse it. Decrypt’s Oct. 11 report also put Bitcoin’s October net outflows at $386.3 million through the first seven trading days.
Why are Ether funds under more pressure?
Ether ETFs lost $56.1 million on Friday, extending their outflow streak to nine consecutive trading sessions. Farside’s data show the streak began Sept. 29; the October portion accounts for $635.1 million in net outflows. The heaviest single-day withdrawal in October was $201.9 million on Oct. 6.
The flow figures show net money leaving these funds over the period, but do not by themselves establish why investors redeemed shares or predict where crypto prices will go. Bitcoin’s Friday inflow also shows the month’s total can shift as new daily data arrives. Watch the next US trading session’s flow reports to see whether Bitcoin’s inflow resumes and whether Ether’s streak ends.
