A new HBO documentary titled "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery", set to release on Wednesday, October 9, aims to uncover the true identity of Bitcoin's elusive creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. The film, directed by Cullen Hoback, who previously directed "Q: Into the Storm", promises to present compelling evidence regarding Nakamoto's identity.
According to Hoback, the documentary presents an unexpected conclusion that is likely to stir debate within the cryptocurrency community. In an interview with Fast Company, he stated, "We make a hell of a case in the film, and I think that who we land on is unexpected and is going to result in a fair amount of controversy."
Reports suggest that Alex Thorn, Head of Research at Galaxy Digital, claims the documentary identifies Len Sassaman as Nakamoto. Thorn referenced a 2021 Medium post discussing the theory that Sassaman, who tragically died by suicide, was the true creator of Bitcoin.
If Nakamoto is still alive, estimates indicate he may control approximately 1.1 million bitcoins, currently valued at around $67 billion. This revelation could have significant implications for the cryptocurrency market.
