Coinbase lists Ripple’s RLUSD across Exchange, Prime and app

Has Coinbase listed Ripple’s RLUSD? Yes: on Oct. 28, Coinbase said customers in supported regions can trade and manage the dollar stablecoin through Coinbase Exchange, Prime and its retail app. That gives retail and institutional users another dollar-denominated asset on Coinbase, with deposits and withdrawals across three networks. According to Coinbase’s announcement, customers can convert U.S. dollars into RLUSD at a 1:1 rate.

How can customers move or convert RLUSD?

Customers can deposit and withdraw RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, Base and Ethereum, while Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the retail app support trading and management. Ripple’s announcement of the Coinbase partnership also says customers can convert other supported U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoins into RLUSD at 1:1. That conversion rate describes the exchange into RLUSD; the announcements do not specify trading pairs or fees.

What backs RLUSD, and how large is it?

Ripple says RLUSD is redeemable for U.S. dollars and backed by reserves that include dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries and other cash equivalents. The stablecoin launched in December 2024, and Ripple reported it had passed $2.4 billion in market capitalization by Oct. 28. Those details frame the Coinbase addition as broader distribution for a dollar-backed token, while the company’s stated reserve composition describes its backing.

When will Global Exchange customers get access?

Coinbase says availability for its Global Exchange customers will follow, including the ability to use RLUSD as collateral, but neither announcement gives a launch date. Ripple also says it will provide liquidity on Base to support RLUSD use there, without specifying an amount. The next thing to watch is Coinbase’s timing for Global Exchange access and collateral support.
