Vitalik Buterin Donates $182K to Combat Airborne Diseases Using Moo Deng Tokens

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has made a significant donation of $182,000 worth of ETH, which was converted from billions of Moo Deng memecoin tokens sent to him. This donation is directed to the biotech charity Kanro. Buterin stated that any memecoins directed to him would be allocated to charity. He encouraged users to either send their tokens directly to charity or establish a DAO to enhance community decision-making regarding charitable contributions.

"I've previously expressed that the most beneficial outcome for memecoins is to maximize their positive impact on the world. It's heartening to witness instances when this vision materializes!" Buterin shared on social media platform X.

The Moo Deng memecoin (MOODENG) is inspired by a female pygmy hippo residing in Thailand's Khao Kheow Open Zoo. This adorable hippo has garnered viral attention due to her cute looks and spirited personality.

As of 9:53 a.m. ET (13:53 UTC) on October 7, MOODENG was trading at approximately $0.105, according to CoinGecko. The token boasts a market capitalization exceeding $105 million.

According to The Block Prices, 1 ether is valued at nearly $2,508 after a 2.72% increase in value over the past day.
