How to bridge to Mantle and get the token you need

To reach Mantle, bridge a supported asset from Ethereum and make sure you have MNT for transactions once you arrive. The asset you bridge and the gas token you need are separate choices: sending ETH gives you ETH on Mantle, while MNT is used to pay network fees there.

How do you bridge funds to Mantle?

Use Mantle’s official bridge interface, connect the wallet holding your funds on Ethereum, then select the source token, amount and Mantle as the destination. Check the token and destination network before approving the transaction; the bridge transfers the selected asset between networks, it does not automatically swap it into another token. For a closer look at the mechanics and integration details, this mantle bridge explainer fills in the steps this guide only touches on.

The bridge can only offer assets and routes supported by its current token list. If the asset you need is not available, you may need a different route, and any swap adds a separate price quote and fee. Review the amount you expect to receive and the displayed costs before confirming.

Which token do you need for Mantle gas?

MNT pays transaction fees on Mantle, so hold some before you try to move, swap or use an app there. If you bridge ETH or another supported token, you should not assume the transfer also gives you MNT: the destination balance reflects the asset you selected, subject to the bridge route and its displayed terms.

  • If you already hold MNT on Ethereum, bridge a small amount alongside the asset you need.
  • If you only have ETH, bridge enough ETH for your intended use, then obtain MNT through a supported route after arrival.
  • If the bridge offers a gas or refuel option for your route, check its terms and cost before relying on it.

Keep enough MNT for more than one transaction if you expect to swap or interact with an app; spending the entire balance on the first action can leave you unable to continue.

What should you check before sending?

Confirm the wallet address, source network, destination network and token contract shown by the interface. A token with the same ticker can have different contracts across networks, and a wallet may need to display the Mantle version before it appears in your asset list. Never share a seed phrase or private key to complete a bridge transfer.

For most users, the practical choice is to bridge the asset they actually plan to use and arrange a small MNT balance for gas. Before you submit, watch the bridge’s quoted receive amount and fee; those are the numbers that determine whether the route still suits your transfer.
