What changes when JPMorgan brings its deposit token to Ethereum? Institutional clients will be able to use JPM Coin, ticker JPMD, on Ethereum as well as Base, extending the bank’s onchain payment and settlement options. The Block reported the move on Monday, citing a statement from Kinexys by JPMorgan.
What can clients do with JPMD on Ethereum?
The expansion adds peer-to-peer transfers across the Ethereum Virtual Machine ecosystem, including Base and Ethereum, according to The Block. JPMD represents existing U.S. dollar deposits at JPMorgan, rather than a token backed by a separate reserve, and is intended to support payments on public blockchains. The bank said Ethereum’s onchain liquidity and tokenized assets made it a natural next network.
When will the Ethereum version be available?
JPMorgan has not announced a launch date. CoinDesk’s report, based on a Bloomberg interview with Kinexys Labs head Emma Landriault, also said the timing had not been disclosed. The token first became available to institutional clients on Base in November 2025.
How large is the network behind the token?
Kinexys, JPMorgan’s digital assets platform, has processed more than $4 trillion in cumulative transactions and averages $7 billion in daily volume, The Block reported. Those figures cover Kinexys activity, not JPMD alone, so they do not show how much use the Ethereum expansion will attract. For you, the next thing to watch is when JPMorgan opens the Ethereum service to clients and whether it publishes transaction figures for JPMD specifically.
