Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has recently exited prison, two days ahead of his official release date. Following his release, CZ has expressed his intentions for the future, which notably do not revolve around Binance.
In a heartfelt message, CZ conveyed his appreciation for the personal freedoms he now enjoys, including the ability to choose his meals and indulge in fresh fruits. He is eager to focus on his education initiative, Giggle Academy, which he actively promoted prior to his arrest. The academy aims to provide free education and teach children about avoiding rug pulls in the crypto space.
Despite his absence from Binance, CZ intends to remain engaged in the blockchain industry. He is set to finalize his book and participate in crypto-related conferences, emphasizing his role as a long-term investor focused on creating a positive impact.
While CZ faces a lifetime ban from serving as Binance's CEO due to his plea deal, he retains executive rights as the majority shareholder. This indicates a shift from leading a startup to potentially mentoring others in the industry.
Changpeng Zhao's legal issues began with an investigation by the US Department of Justice in February 2018, focusing on compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws. In November 2023, he faced several criminal charges, pled guilty, and resigned as CEO of Binance.
CZ's post-prison journey suggests he is ready to embrace new opportunities, focusing on education and philanthropy while remaining connected to the crypto community. His social media presence indicates that he still resonates with supporters, as evidenced by their engagement with his recent posts.
