Trump Leads Harris by 2.2% on Polymarket; Musk Calls It 'More Accurate'

Trump Leads Harris by 2.2% on Polymarket

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has gained significant traction in the upcoming election, with his odds of winning now at 50.6% on the decentralized prediction market platform Polymarket. This figure puts him ahead of current Vice President Kamala Harris, who stands at 48.4%.

The stakes on both candidates have fluctuated on the $1.3 billion Polymarket platform since current President Joe Biden withdrew from the election race in July. Although Harris held the lead for a considerable part of September, betting on Trump's victory has surged this month.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, remarked, "Trump now leading Kamala by 3% in betting markets. More accurate than polls, as actual money is on the line," highlighting the difference between Polymarket predictions and the national polling averages, where Harris leads with 49% and Trump trails with 47%.

Musk's Support for Trump

In a notable appearance at Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Musk donned a hat featuring the ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan. He declared Trump as the only presidential candidate capable of preserving democracy in America, as reported by AP News.

Cryptocurrency has also emerged as a significant topic in the 2024 presidential election, with Trump openly supporting crypto, NFTs, and DeFi. In contrast, Harris recently expressed her intention to promote growth in digital assets. Matt Hougan, CIO of Bitwise, noted that Harris introduces more uncertainty for the crypto market despite her statement that “crypto wins no matter what happens” in the upcoming election.

The 2024 U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5.
