Ryan Salame, the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, has filed a request to postpone the start of his prison sentence to December 7, 2024, due to medical needs arising from injuries sustained in a dog attack over the summer.
According to a legal filing made on Wednesday, Salame's lawyer stated that the government opposes this request. Salame's legal team argues that he requires ongoing medical treatment, as advised by his physician, to recover from a dog-bite injury he suffered around June 29, 2024.
Previously, Salame had successfully requested to delay his prison time from August to October 2024 to undergo urgent surgery related to the same incident. His legal team noted that he was evaluated by a doctor on July 3, following the injury.
Salame was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to charges linked to unlawful political contributions and operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business. His former associate, Sam Bankman-Fried, received a nearly 25-year prison sentence after a fraud trial.
