Sean 'Diddy' Combs is facing serious legal challenges after being charged with racketeering and sex trafficking in New York. The renowned rapper and producer has enlisted Alexandra Shapiro, the same lawyer who represents former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.
Shapiro, a partner at Shapiro Arato Bach, was officially named Combs’ counsel in a notice of appeal filed on Monday. She has been defending Bankman-Fried since he was found guilty last year of defrauding investors, a case that prosecutors have described as potentially "the largest fraud in the last decade."
Combs was charged on September 17 by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. Prosecutors allege that he led a criminal enterprise that abused and exploited women, involving serious offenses such as sex trafficking, forced labor, and kidnapping.
Interestingly, both Combs and Bankman-Fried are reportedly staying in the same unit at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York, as reported by The New York Times.
Last month, Shapiro filed an appeal for Bankman-Fried, seeking a new trial due to concerns about the handling of evidence by Judge Lewis Kaplan. This legal team's involvement in high-profile cases continues to draw attention.
